Thanksgiving 2009

This Thanksgiving Kalena was thankful to spend the day with her great grandmother Freda and her Grandpa Joel and ofcourse her parents, too!! Kalena collected acorns on the back porch and enjoyed all her favorite Thanksgiving foods.

Volusia County Fair

November 2009

Kalena, Marli, and Colin had their first to the Volusia County Fair on November 8th. They had a blast riding on the rides and looking at the farm animals. Kalena had a popcorn for the first time and Marli enjoyed a ice cream cone!

Halloween 2009

This years halloween was out of the world, it was bee crazy.
Kalena was baby Bee, I was Mommy Bee and Todd was the Bee Keeper!!!!!

This year Kalena was still a bit young to say trick or treat, but by house four she had it down, that the big girls (Marli and Natalie) would ring the bell and say trick or treat and the "people" would give out candy.

Back to beginning at house one KJ was a little slow and didn't get to the door until after the big girls where walking away.. At house two she walked right into the house, my hands were full so Stephanie had to go chase KJ down...
And then at house three the big girls where already walking away and KJ looked at them and then looked at the door and continued for the door.. When the owner opened the door KJ tried to walked in.. when I reached for her hand.. she turned around and laid down on her back.. after that house she had it down that we just go to the door "ask" for candy, says thanks, and leave..

Kalena at Disney for Todd's 40th Birthday

Todd got take Kalena (and me) to Disney for his 40th Birthday. Todd got to watch Kalena clap and dance on its a small world for the first time. Then we took on it again!! We also got to take her on Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and many other fun rides at Disney. We had a great time as a family at the park.

Pumpkin Patch 2009

This year Kalena was not scaried of the pumpkins:)
However, she was not fond of looking at the camera.
She did like picking up small pumpkins and bringing them to Todd and I.
It was so sweet.

2nd Disney Trip

Monday October 5th, was Juli's birthday, so Kalena and I went to Disney with the Greene's. We had hoped that since it was October and Monday it would be slow, but we where wrong, it was very busy.

The girls still had a blast!!!!!!!!!!

Marli and Kalena got to meet Princess Belle and Cinderella.

They loved the ride its a small world.

They played in toon-town and got super wet in the mermaid Ariel's playland.

We got to ride the carousel two times in a row, since it started to pour down rain doing our first ride.. It was nice of them to let us stay on.

The girls loved the Dumbo ride, but Kalena did have a meltdown waiting in the long ride to get on. She did for the first time hit mommy in the face and pull mommy's hair.. not fun.. I must say... But seeing her smile while on the ride made it okay.

We also enjoyed ice cream sundaes for Juli's birthday!!!!

Kalena's First Vacation

Kalena went on her first family vacation August 29 to September 4th. We went to Holmes Beach, FL, just north of Bradenton Beach. We had a week of the beach, pool, rest, and family fun.
After the second day Kalena would wake up, go pick up a bucket and shovel and stand at the front door waiting to go down to the beach.. It was so cute...
We kept safe from the sun by building sand castles under tent shade.. we enjoying playing Princess Kalena on the rafts in the ocean. And at the pool she was complemented by the other guests on how adorable she was. After relaxing in the pool we would sit on the pool chairs like "big girls" and drink water and "just sit" for what felt like hours.
We also found a park for Kalena to play at, she enjoyed the swings, slides, and running around.

September Update

Kalena is doing wonderful!
She has had a busy summer. Between visits at Gram Faye's, Grandpa Joel, going to St. Augustine to visit Grandma Cheryl, and this week a vist from Grandparent's Juanita and Shockey...
Kalena loves going to the at home daycare down the street sometimes she cries when she has to go home (isn't she supposed to cry when we drop her off?? not the other way around)..
Kalena loves when she gets to play with her friend Marli. Marli loves to push Kalena on the rocking horse, they cook together in their red kitchen, and share their snacks.
I took Kalena to Disney on my birthday, she had the greatest time. Her favorite ride was its a small world. We get to go back for Juli's birthday with Marli, Kalena is so excited.

Kalena still loves to say KitKat, Uh Oh, and sometimes she even says Mine, Hi, Bye, Momma, Dada, No, What's that...
She always says KitKat with a kiss to follow, its so cute..
She has learned to bark like a puppy and to meow like a kitty. She can point out the cats, dogs, and fish in her books.
She still loves her monkey!! And mean LOVES her monkey!

Kalena also loves to wear her accessories.. sunglasses, bracelets, necklaces, shoes.. she is definitely a girly girly in the making.

Kalena can also find her nose, mouth, belly button, etc. :0

St. Augstine, Florida

August 1, 2009 Kalena went to St. Augustine for the first time.
Kalena's Grandma Cheryl came to tour with Kalena. On their tour of the beautiful city, they played at the park. They swung in the swings, played music, crawled in tunneled. After the park they walked the historical streets and shopped in the cute shops. Had lunch in the air-condition and ice cream to hide from the rain. Kalena enjoyed her visit so much she slept the entire way back to Orlando.

Kalena still uses her sippy cups, but she loves to be a big girl and use regular cups and straws.
Kalena has no problem with her food. She likes almost everything and if she doesn't like it one day she usually likes it the next.
She has become really good with eating with forks and spoons.

And like any girl Kalena loves shoes!!!

When Kalena is not eating crayons she does enjoy to scribble.

Kalena is working on her dance skills maybe she will be the next little performer on "So You Think You Can Dance."

18 months - Family Photos

Kalena looks super cute in all her pictures, but don't let her fool you. She would not sit or stay still for any of these pictures. But in the end they turned out great.

Fourth of July Update

Kalena enjoyed her 4th of July at Jaxson chili cook off. Jaxson, Lily, and her had a great time swimming, running, climbing stairs, petting puppies, and eating chili.

Cousins ROCK!!

Kalena got to meet her cousins for the first time-ish on July 3rd.

Troy and Lauren came in from Arizona with their beautiful daughter Elliana who turned one in June.
Andrea came in from California with Tre, Annabelle, & baby Ariah.
Dareen and Rosa came up from Miami with Fabiana who turned one in April.

Watching all the cousins play together was the best. All the laughing, clapping, and smiles made some great memories.

Kalena is excited to have so many amazing cousins to grow up with.

Father's Day Slide Show

May and June Update

Sorry we have not updated in a while..
In May, Kalena got to spend time with her Grandma Juanita. They had a great time playing and shopping together. Kalena and I had the flu for most of May and on Mother's Day. But once we were better we went to the beach to celebrate Mother's Day.

At the beginning of June I got a full time job and Kalena started going to her "at home" daycare down the street four days a week. She spends Friday's with Grandpa Joel and one day week Gram Faye picks her up for a bit. Its been a different pace for all of us, but is working out.

Kalena is communicating very well us, but still isn't talking a lot. Her newest word is "here" and she even using it at the right time. Like "here" take this.

She is eating just about everything. Her newest favorite snacks are vegy straws.

She thinks she's a big girl already and likes to walk herself to the car and to her highchair.

She loves carrying pursues, bags, shoes, and her monkey.

She likes to brush my hair, which is a little painful.

14-15 month update

At 14-15 months Kalena now weights about 24 pounds and is still around 30 inches tall.

She is following us everywhere with her cute walk.
She has the cutest wave for bye-bye and she says bye-bye in her own way.
She loves all food still and on Friday 4/24/09 she had peanut butter for the first time. Marli shared her peanut butter sandwich with Kalena.

Kalena and her Monkey Sound

Kalena has her favorite toy, its a monkey. She loves taking her monkey everywhere. You can even say go get your monkey and she will go find him. Kalena also can make the sound of a monkey and below is the short video I finally got of her making the monkey sound.

Kitchen Fun

March Flew By

March was a busy month for growing Kalena.. She has gone from taking two steps at a time to taking ten or more steps at time. I'm sure by the end of April she will be walking everywhere.

Kalena is now a park lover!!

And she has been enjoying her visits to the zoo, too!!

Also this month she got to go on vacation to her Aunt Danyens & Uncle Donnys, they took her to the Jacksonville Zoo (I wonder if they have any pictures for us).. Kalena loved playing with all their doggies and kitties..

Kalena has added KitKat to her vocab.. Which now is Dada and KitKat.. she does say a lot of stuff, but those are the only two words that we understand.
